Galveston park and cruise hotels
Staying the night before is the calm way to cruise. Here is where to stay near the port, and how parking and transfers fit in.
Every seat is protectedWhy stay the night before
The Galveston Causeway can back up on embarkation mornings, so arriving the day before turns cruise day into a short, relaxed transfer. Many island hotels sit only minutes from the terminals.
Some properties offer park-and-cruise packages that bundle a night's stay with cruise-week parking. These can work out cheaper than paying nightly port parking, but terms vary, so confirm what is actually included and whether the parking is on site or off.
Downtown and the Strand, near Terminals 25 and 28
The historic downtown district puts you closest to the Carnival, Disney, and Princess terminals, with restaurants and the Strand at your door. Well-known options include The Tremont House and Harbor House on the waterfront, and the recently reimagined Grand Galvez a short distance away. This area suits cruisers who want to walk to dinner the night before.
Seawall Boulevard, on the beach
Seawall hotels give you Gulf views and easy dining, a short drive from the terminals. Common choices include the San Luis Resort, the Holiday Inn Resort on the beach, and several Hilton-family and DoubleTree properties along the water. This area suits travelers who want a beach evening before they sail.
Choosing between a package and separate parking
If a hotel offers a park-and-cruise rate, compare it against the cost of a room plus separate port parking for your sailing. Packages sometimes require a minimum stay, and the included parking may be at a different lot than you expect. The math is usually close, so it comes down to the specific hotel and dates.
Getting from your hotel to the ship
On cruise morning it is a short hop to the terminal. We also run return shuttles from island hotels back to the airports, so the whole trip can be hands-off. Flying in first? Book a Houston to Galveston shuttle from IAH or Hobby.
Prefer to skip the driving?
Our shared vans run this route for a flat $39 per seat, and every seat is protected. Reserve your seats or see the schedule.
