Cruises from the Port of Galveston

What sails out of the only cruise homeport in Texas: the lines, the terminals, where the ships go, and how to reach the port.

Texas' cruise gateway

The Port of Galveston is the only cruise homeport in Texas and the fourth-busiest in North America, moving more than 3.4 million passengers a year. It sits on the east end of Galveston Island, about an hour south of Houston, and sails year-round to the Western Caribbean, Mexico, and beyond. Ships depart from four terminals along Harborside Drive.

Cruise lines sailing from Galveston in 2026

  • Royal Caribbean sails from the newer Terminal 10, including Oasis-class ships.
  • Carnival runs mainly from Terminal 25, its largest presence in Galveston.
  • Disney Cruise Line sails from Terminal 28 on seasonal Galveston itineraries.
  • Princess Cruises uses Terminals 25 and 28 depending on the sailing.
  • MSC Cruises and Norwegian sail from the new Terminal 16, which opened in late 2025.

Because ships move between terminals by season and sailing, always confirm the terminal on your boarding pass. The terminal directions guide lists every address.

Where the ships go

Most Galveston itineraries head to the Western Caribbean and Mexico, with common stops that include Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán, and Yucatán ports, on trips that usually run four to seven nights. Longer and repositioning sailings appear at times of year as well. Your exact ports and length depend on the ship and season, so check the specific itinerary when you book.

Getting to your ship

Galveston is not next to a major airport, so plan the ground leg. Most cruisers fly into Houston and take a Houston to Galveston shuttle, $39 a protected seat from IAH or Hobby. If you are staying over, see park-and-cruise hotels and things to do on the island.
