First Galveston cruise coming up. How early do we actually need to be at the terminal? I do not want to sit around for hours, but I also do not want to miss the boat.

Use the check-in window your cruise line assigns during online check-in as your anchor. You do not need to be there hours before it. If you are flying in the same day, aim to land by late morning to leave room for bags and the drive. The Causeway can back up on busy mornings, so if you can, arrive the island the day before. Our arrival timing guide covers it.

Six Galveston sailings in, and the day before is the way. Cruise morning becomes a 20-minute transfer instead of a stressful drive.

We did same-day from Hobby last year, landed at 9:30, and it was fine. Just do not book a midday flight into IAH and expect to make it.
